Field of Magic
Synopsis
Field of Magic is a docu-poem about people living for over two decades in Buda forest near the closed down Kariotiškės dump, 40 km from Vilnius, Lithuania. A result of four year’s work, the film captures the perspective of the dump dwellers in telling the story of a dissolving community, its uniqueness, daily rhythm, peculiar way of life, every-day joys and sorrows.

I was in the Buda forest a lot while I was making the film and these people started gradually accepting me into their circle: I’d accompany them to the dumping ground, spent the Christmas Eve and the New Year’s Eve with them.
The Field of Magic documentary film project about people living in Kariotiškės dumping ground, directed by Mindaugas Survila and produced by the Monoklis studio, received success at the Eastern European Forum in Jihlava, Czech Republic and was awarded the Golden Funnel for the best developed project.
