February 13. Hundreds of people in Vilnius club Tamsta cheered the winners of the unique in Lithuania Pravda Newcomers awards. Elzbieta Degutytė who played Emilija in Giedrė Beinoriūtė’s film The Balcony was named the Best Newcomer in Film. The youngest of the debutants won the award against the director Jūratė Samulionytė (Noroutine), director Kristina Buožytė (Collectress), director Žeraldas Povilaitis (5 Day Scam).

Another award to G. Beinoriūtė’s Grandpa and Grandma! The documentary animation film about exile to Siberia has recently won the second place at the Vilnius Documentary Film Festival.

On June 14, Saturday, 16.10 LTV will broadcast the documentary animation film Grandpa and Grandma (dir. Giedrė Beinoriūtė) about its director’s grandparents deported to Siberia during the Soviet times.
The film was made using photos from a personal archive, animated interludes and excerpts from movie reels. The story is narrated by a little girl, with her childlike understanding and imagination of the events of the day.
