An hour before the Oscars 2008 ceremony, Lithuanian movie theaters’ network Forum Cinemas began electing the best films released to the Lithuanian movie theaters in 2008, taking into account the opinions of the filmgoers.
Giedrė Beinoriūtė’s film The Balcony received the most viewers’ votes in the Lithuanian Film of the Year nomination and was awarded the Lithuanian films distributors’ award ‘2008 Film’. The Balcony was made in the independent studio Monoklis, which also became its distributor.
